BECOMING A MANGOWe are all so blessed
Some people have a tendency
To ripen like mangoes
Weathering whatever
The seasons inflict
Somehow managing
To grow radiantly soft

Effortlessly offering
A luscious abundance
Of intoxicating aromas
And eventually becoming
So full with sweetness
They entirely drop
Into being
Totally grounded
Broken open
Offering their delicious tenderness
And strong core
To any being
Who dares taste them

Utterly Surrendered
They’ve died open
A life of sacrificial offering
For nourishing others.
Lest I rot
To some lonely waste
May I fall that way too
And be devoured
As the nectar
Of life
